I would definitely stay at this property again and would recommend it to anyone who asks. This is a minor inconvenience compared to the amazing views. The other thing to note is, if there is an evening event going on and your room faces the water, the sound bleeds into the room. They try to make up for it with a multi-shelf etagere but, for ladies, it doesn't make it easy to get hair and makeup done. The only true downside to the room is the lack of counter space in the bathroom. The bed is quite comfortable but the pillows a bit too soft and squishy to provide good support. The balconies are spacious and equipped with chairs for lounging and enjoying the view. They even include some thoughtful amenities - there were plush robes, slippers, and even an umbrella in the closet. The rooms are large and well appointed with everything you may need. The food provided for our conference was very good and the service staff were friendly and helpful. I didn't get the chance to dine there because our conference was catered but I heard positive reviews from other guests. There is a very attractive restaurant named Fuego with gorgeous outdoor waterfront dining. I was told they do a heavy wedding business which makes sense due to the beautiful grounds. There are sandy beach areas with fire pits throughout the resort, high top tables on the waterfront where you can sit with a drink, and plenty of event space to accommodate any size event. But note that you must walk from the reception area to your assigned building and it is all outside. The property is beautifully landscaped and very walkable. There is an elevator in each building to make things easy. Each building is built around a small open air atrium with all entry doors facing the atrium so the balconies can face outward toward the views. You can see the cruise ships come and go from the Long Beach pier. The Hotel Maya - a DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel is located near the Long Beach Convention Center and features complimentary shuttle bus from the hotel into town each day. The four 6-story buildings sprawl along a waterfront with gorgeous views of Long Beach, the Queen Mary and surrounding area. It is chic, attractive, and has a lovely romantic ambiance at night. The Hotel Maya is an unexpected gem with a surprising vibe for a Doubletree.
